MMA RESINS

MODIFIED MMA RESINS

Understanding modified MMA resin coatings

Polished Concrete
Designed to overcome the shortcomings of traditional epoxy and polyurethane floor coatings, whether industrial or decorative, Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) floors are designed to last. The unique durable bond of these systems together with its high compressive and tensile abilities, is the foundation of their strength. Modified MMA resins, like Plastifloor, offer even more advantages.

Why choose modified MMA
  1. The rapid curing time of only two hours, which is significantly shorter than the curing windows specified by epoxy and polyurethane manufacturers, dramatically shortens the construction period, delivering a significant cost benefit.
  2. MMA coatings can be applied on a variety of surfaces and with a palette of 200 colours to choose from as well as a variety of slip-resistance options, the finish can be tailored to the client’s particular requirements
  3. The seamless, impervious, slip-resistant surface offers ease of cleaning and maintenance.
  • Where to use modified MMA coatings

    Industrial flooring solutions

    INDUSTRY

Specifically engineered to endure in industrial and manufacturing environments, MMA flooring systems can tolerate chemical exposure and withstand the constant abuse of heavy loads, extreme impact and forklift traffic.

    Industrial flooring solutions

    FOOD PROCESSING

Modified MMA floors are completely non-porous and impervious, making it ideal for use in food processing environments. Speed of cure means that installations can often be achieved with little or no disruption to the end user.

    PHARMACEUTICAL

From vivarium and cage wash areas to manufacturing, research and development facilities, the composition of the floors ensure that staining and odours are drastically reduced or eliminated.

    SUPERMARKETS

All retail facilities need flooring that is attractive, easy to clean, slip-resistant and durable enough to withstand wheeled trolley traffic and exposure to spillages and organic acids that can corrode the floor.

    PLASTIFLOOR

    Polished Concrete

Fast-curing, long lasting and hygienic acrylic resin

Plastifloor is a fast-curing, tough and durable modified MMA flooring solution that provides a hygienic, easy-to-clean and slip-resistant floor. From light to heavy industrial applications, Plastifloor is suited to a wide spectrum of industries and each floor can be finished in accordance with the client’s specifications with regards to colour and slip resistance.

Plastifloor achieves a full chemical cure in only two hours, making it ideal for use in operations where only a short or no shutdown window is possible.

Subject to the condition of the sub-floor, the bond to substrate, which is fundamental to the success of any floor coating, Plastifloor installations are warranted for up to ten years, effectively delivering the best cost to life cycle ratio in the industry.

In addition to the benefits explained above, modified MMA resin floors also offer the following benefits:
    1. Its low temperature applications make it suitable for use in refrigerator compartments and walk-in coolers and freezers.
    2. They are extremely hardwearing, and UV- and chemical-resistant. The flexural, tensile and compressive strength of between 85 and 104MPa, which far exceeds the strength of traditional MMA floors at only 45MPa, gives it extreme durability, and impact- and abrasion resistance.
    3. The unique composition of modified MMA resins that allows it to perform in harsh acid and alkaline environments means that modified MMA resin floors retain their ease of cleaning and maintenance well past what can be expected of traditional MMA floors.
Several Plastifloor coatings have been tested for abrasion- and impact resistance, bond strength, and fire behaviour by the Technical Inspection Association (TUV SÜD). In addition, a number of solutions have been tested for slip resistance by the Materialprüfung und Entwicklung GmbH & Co. KG.
